estadounidense de los mercados de materias primas actuará enérgicamente para

frenar la excesiva especulación en las transacciones de futuros de energía y

metales, poniendo el mayormente el foco en ampliar su actual autoridad, y

podría contar con nuevas reglas en octubre.

En respuesta a las recientes oscilaciones en los precios del petróleo, la

Comisión de Negociación de Futuros de Materias Primas (CFTC por su sigla en

inglés) de Estados Unidos anunció está semana que está considerando medidas

drásticas sobre grandes participantes del mercado.

Las disposiciones establecerían la implementació<wbr>n de límites de posiciones

en todos los contratos de futuros de materias primas, enfocándose en especial

en energía y metales como oro y plata.

"Tenemos un cronograma para actuar bastante rápido", dijo en una

entrevista Bart Chilton, comisionado de la CFTC. "Vamos a usar nuestra

autoridad en la mayor medida posible". Eso no significa que vayamos a ser

draconianos o que iremos muy lejos", agregó.

Chilton señaló que aunque en última instancia no puede predecir que hará la

CFTC, le gustaría sacar las reglas propuestas en septiembre, abrirlas a

comentarios públicos e implementarlas a fines de octubre o noviembre.
